speedo cable

i just bought a 79 f250 and most of the dash bulbs are burnt out...i wanna replace em but cant seem to get the speedo cable unplugged...how the hell does that thing come off....help!!!!.....
btw its a 4wd

There is a tab that sticks out on the plastic retaining ring that you push down with your thumb then pull it out.

There is a plastic retaining collar that needs to be squeezed & pull the cable out at the same time.
