Question speakers

can anyone tell me what size speakers are in the doors of the XLT supercab. I'm wanting to get some aftermarket speakers but I don't know what size they are. I hear they are 5x7.
thanks,
Kris

All of the speakers i replaced in my SuperCab where 6x8, if you do a search on the site you get really good directions on how to change said speakers out.

What about component speakers? So far I haven't been able to find a set to fit the back seat of the Super Crew. Has anyone put two sets of component speakers in their Super Crew yet?

Components should only be used in the front; its the soundstage. The rear speakers are mostly used to "fill" in the holes the front speakers dont hit.

So what size components are you guys using. Cartoys told me 6.5" would fit fine, but Crutchfield says 5.25".

may be a dumb question but are components speakers the ones that are round? example 6.5", 7",etc. with just one number, the diameter of the speaker. not like 5x7,6x8.

My understanding of component speakers:

Basically you have the round speaker "woofer" to give you base, and a separate tweeter to give you your highs.

These are the speakers i put in my truck, they have a woofer, mid, tweeter and super tweeter, they sound great and fit perfectly in the supercab, although you have to bend the extra eyeholes that are unused on the speaker like the directions say to do.

So it was two for 53, i bought all four.

I would have to disagree with you asinatra, I (my wife) currently own a VW Jetta with the Monsoon system which has component speakers throughout the car and it sounds AWESOME! I want nothing less than that sound quality in my new Ford XLT. The problem is I can't get the Audiophile with the XLT package, which to me is pretty stupid on Ford's part. However, it looks like I may be stuck with only having components in the front and three-way speakers in the back.

Stop by www.Crutchfield.com
they have it all

at least you will get some ideas on what you like and what there is out there.... then you can go to your local Audio shop already packing the info on what you want and how you want it.

as i put in mine. Alpine makes a great set of 5x7/6x8 componets. they sounded great too. price was around 200bucks i think for the set but u can probally find them cheaper some where. and i agree with the rest get the componets for the front and do just a simple two way in the back.

LSUFX4 -

Did you have any trouble with your rear door panels? I started to take mine off but the door release latch seems to be in the way. How did you get the panel off?
