oil drip at plug

Can anyone tell me how to stop this oil drip around the plug. I put a new copper washer that did not work. Any suggestions are greately appreciated!! I have a 99F350 PS. Also when can I use the Ford additive to the radiator cooler and how much? Again many thanks.

Have you seen the washers with the o-ring built into the center hole?I'm suprised that it's not original on your engine.Check the dealer again or look for them at a parts store. If available, you may have to order for your diameter.Sorry, can't help you on the additive for the radiator.

The owners manual says to add FW-15 every 15000 miles, or you can check it with the Fleetguard strips to make sure it is at the proper level.

I had the same problem with my PSD and picked up the copper washer with the o-ring built into the center hole at NAPA. Worked great! I also had the same problem with the drain plug on my F150. I put a new plug & plastic washer during the last oil change and I still had the problem. Not as bad as previously but, it was still there. I couldn't find a replacement copper washer at the time. So, I ended up draining the oil into a clean pan. I then applied some pliable permatex to the plug and washer and the problem was temporarily solved. I've since picked up a hand full of the copper washers with the o-ring built in for future oil changes. Good Luck.

Do a search on the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve. I had a leak that no plug or washer combination seemed to want to fix. I sprung for the Fumoto and not only did it stop the leak but changing the oil is much cleaner. Good luck.

HA! I fought the same damn problem using copper washers with no luck! Drove me crazy cuz I can't stand wet/damp/leaking anything. Finally found that pep boys has a synthetic washer for the drain plug, same size, and it seals perfectly. It is like a stiff yet flexible, well, synthetic material. Was green in color. Try them I guarantee they will work!

I wonder what's causing some copper washers to leak and others are ok. I've been using new copper washers at every change for the last 4 years and have not had one leak yet.

It took me 2 years to buy a Fumoto valve and now that I have one I want to get one for all my other vehicles. I never changed the copper washer (10 oil changes) on my truck untill I got the fumoto and never had a leak. On my sons Explorer if I dont replace the washer every oil change it will leak. Explain that one to me!!!

This is like the 4th or 5th time that someone brought something up that I've been experiencing as well. I haven't been getting the new washers with my OCs, but I will now. I've got quarter-sized spots in the garage when I leave in the morning and it's coming from the plug. Go figure...

Thanks for the tips on the O-ring washer -- I was just going to get the copper one this time.
