Does anybody have any experience with the Romanian made SAR-1 AK47? Just wondering about the quality of this gun, I can pick one up for about $300 which includes 2 mags and a cleaning kit. Also have found ammo for about $70 per 1000.
Get it. A friend of mine has the same gun, and its a great gun. There is also another forum (cant think of the name of it, ak-47 i believe, id do a search though) and those guys love the SAR. One guy on there has shot over 2000 rounds and not a single trouble. If you can get it for 300 with two mags, then jump on it. If you dont, then see if the guy wants to trade for a mini 14, and then let me know, lol. Also make sure its the 7.62, those are alot better than the .223.
I have 3 SKS's 2 paratroopers and one with the 19" barrell.. And 2 Norinco Mac 90s
If Im not mistaken..correct me if im wrong..the romainian had from the factory a real light stock on it.. SAR--Semi automatic rifle...Is it in the .308 or the 7.62x 39 or the .223? But I never paid over $150 for the Macs..and $80 for SKS's..
But I got them at cost...I personally like them..But..before I would throw out $300..
Is take it out and shoot it.. I have Long arms..and alot of the SAR's Have to short of stock for me to feal good!! A weapon is only worth ..how well it fits you and how well you can shoot it..Bottom Line!
I have friends with $2500 hunting rifles.and cant shoot them worth a Hoot! Russ, Good Luck!! Tell the Guy..$200 if you cant shoot it? make $50
$300.00 is a good price. The SAR series are a little rough in the finish department, but other than that they are an AK-they go bang everytime.
Just make sure the sights are straight. The drunken monkeys in Romania had a tendency to put the front sight block on crooked-an easy fix, but why mess with it if you don't have to?
"Back in the day" you could get a NIB SAR for 259.00. However, new models have not been imported from Romania since 2003.
Thanks for the replies and websites. It is the 7.62 x 39 caliber and includes the sling, a 10 rd and a 30 rd mag. Considering the price of rounds, this gun can be used for plinking w\o breaking the bank.
