I didn't make them. A shop in Newberg that does monster truck type stuff uses them on front axles when high horse is involved. Thought I'd give them a whirl. They cost me some articulation though. I've since seen another style that Sunray makes that I think is awesome. Its really different...limits axlewrap with no detriment to articulation. One of these days I plan on ripping out my current ones and fabbing up a copy of the sunray design.
Damn man, that sucks getting your axles high centered. I'm telling ya...just get the 42" Swampers. The 42" Iroks have less tread depth and will last even less on road than the Swampers. To me, their only benefit is the 17" rim...but as more and more 16.5 dot legal beadlocks are becoming available this is becoming less critical to me. Not that I wouldn't like to see all the 16.5's go out the door!
Shysters . . . don't tempt me. The longer I think about tread depth the more tempted I am to go to a Swamper or Ground Hawgs. I've been looking at the 44" Hawgs (apparently 42" tall) and Staz beadlocks. Hopefully I win some $$ in Vegas this week and can make it all happen.
Do you have a website for the shop you got those bars from or do they just use that phone thing? How about Sunray?
Sadly, he closed up shop in Newberg and moved down to Cali two years ago. I've lost track of him. Although I could duplicate them easily enough for you. I'm more impressed with the sunray design one anyways, though. www.sunrayengineering.com for the others but I bet their $$$ because each one is made to spec custom for the rig it will be going on. I'm just going to weld up my own.
Ya, know, for what you do I think the Hawgs would be perfect. Right size, decent mud performance, great street wear...some stazworks bl's and your set. The truth is though, neither of us are rock crawlers. You could get by with the normal rims and never air them down less than 15 psi and be perfectly happy. I only mention that because the bl's take allot more maintenance then standard rims, and I know you drive your truck allot.
Do you know if hy-steer arms will clear the spring pack? It looks tight with my springs but I'm thinking with the thicker packs you're using you wouldn't have enough clearance? It's not really a concern for me right now but I've been curious about this for a while. Every which way I look at it appears that the tie rod won't clear the springs.

they should unless you have done something dramatic to your suspension! Ho is running hi-steer arms and he loves it! it clears everything just fine
just crossover...no highsteer. ill get pics one day, i finally got the 500lbs of mud washe doff from the last time me n fishy went wheelin. ill be home this weekend, i coudl snap some pics...wut u wanna see ivan? i still need to mount my front shocks and make longer shackles...but ive been too lazy with my 97'
I'd like to see some pics of a high steer setup on a truck with leaf springs up front. I just can't picture how they'll clear the springs. The arms go on the king pins and face rear, correct? Are they angled up or do they just come straight back? Every which way I look at it seems the tie rod can't clear the spring pack.
You got me on that one. I've never seen one up close. X-over is good enough for me. I know, I wouldn't even have room to flip my rod if I didn't have that extra 1" given by my anti-wrap bars. I'd have to see one up close for it to make sense...I'd think the arms coming off the top of the kingpins would have to raise up to clear the leafpack or something...
Someone's got to have a picture. It's like I tell my woman when I'm staring at hookers . . . no, I don't want one . . . just kind of curious on how they work. Seems like a small spring pack like mine would barely clear but I can't see it clearing with an F-350 pack or a lifted spring pack.

they do man, i promise! i can't remember where i saw it but there is a good pic on pirate. they are usually angled down! they clear but not by much! it doesn't need much
