Question Trouble code P0402

Check eng light on, book says excessive exhaust gas recirculation flow detected. 1998 2.5 4cyl . Any ideas what may be the cause besides maybe a stuck open egr valve (which is only 10,000 miles old)? Thanks for any help.

Go with the EGR sensor first (also called the DPFE or Differential Pressure Feedback EGR sensor), since it's cheaper and much MUCH easier to replace.

Make sure you also check your vacuum lines for leaks or loose connections.

I'm leaning toward the valve problem.

How about PO405 code I have it on my 2002 F150 Supercrew. I got the code read at Autozone it read Exhaust recirculation sensor A low. Would a new DPFE sensor also be the culprit in this instance.

Thx,

Coot
