65 f100. Tank worked fine before removing several months ago. Flushed with gas, and tank has been moved about for storing and painting over the months. Now unable to get fuel to carb. Pump pulling about 6 pounds pressure, or 10 inches vac. Disconnect line under drivers side of cab and no discharge. When put pressure in line can hear gas stirring in tank. With vacuum get some residual gas but like drawing on a stoogie w/ a hole in it. Put at least 3 gals of gas for testing. Wonder if dislodged stan tube, or something in tank.
Really close to getting this ride on the road. Any suggestions, input would be appreciated.
Dave---Often the fuel needs some help to get started over the "hump" in the line at the top of the tank. I used a blowgun and a rag wadded up . Wrap the rag around the tip of the blowgun and push into the filler neck, not necessary to seal well, then slowly and GENTLY, with minimal pressure blow in the tank. Oh, make sure the line to the pump is disconnected at the pump and aimed into a can. It usually takes a couple gentle blows to push the fuel thru the lines to the pump, then quickly reconnect at pump and should work! DON"T USE MUCH PRESSURE!!!!!
Good luck!
Dave,
Just went through a similar event with my 65 1/2 ton. Found the gas had turned to sludge in the fuel line between the drop line under driver side all the way tothe pump. Replaced the line and it runs great. Good Luck
Thought i had cleaned line when installed, but decided to flush with solvent and compressed air while it was disassembled just in case. Reconnected, primed using compressed air as instructed and now there is plenty of fuel. Thanks you for the help!
