If its legal chunk the cat and mufler.
I have never seen any cop check exhaust in Oklahoma. In some states its legal to not have a muffler on a turbo'd vehicle. (Depends on sound laws.)
Already 4 people in my family with no mufflers or cats on their PSD's.
And several friends.
If you have emissions tests, you need the cat. Otherwise, you can do as you see fit. The better alternative to gutting or removing is a high flow cat designed to flow better than a stock cat but do the same job. The reduction in power is negligible compared to no cat.
I have the exhaust purchased from the group buy as well, but its not installed yet. When I laid it out on the ground to measure for install it appeared that the cat would need to be re-installed. Also, the instructions state that the cat needs to be re-installed. Is that just a CYA for the legal guys?
And I have also noticed that “high-flow” cat that Grinch mentioned. Does that work? Does anyone have one installed? They are a little pricey.
