Is this right?

It looks like I'm going to have to pull the fuel pump off of my truck (95 PSD) due to an oil leak where the tappet that drives the pump comes through the top of the engine (o-ring I assume). Chiltons says to pull the turbo off and disconnect and remove the fuel lines at the pump and at the rear of the heads. Can this job be done without removing the turbo and leaving the lines connected at the rear of the heads? It sure looks like it can....

yes you can do this without taking the turbo and the lines off. but you do need an inch and quarter wrench to get the banjo bolt off the back side of the pump where the lines attach. i just replace my pump last week and did it without taking the lines or turbo. make sure that its oil and not fuel also. i had to do my pump because a fuel leak from the weep hole in the bottom of the pump. you may want to get the rubber lines from ford. they are blue and they connect the filter housing and the pump. there is one from the fuel line to the pump and two from the filter to the pump and one black one from the return line to the filter housing. my hoses where cracked and getting bad at 165000 miles not sure if they were original or not.

please post any more questions and i can try to help you out.

good luck

Thanks TJ. Thats some good info. I'm 99.9% sure it's an oil leak. I'll check the condition of those lines and let you know. May be a week or so before I can get around to it. (I don't know why the partial message above decided to post itself before I was ready..lol. Oh well.)
