I just got a 47 1/2 ton p/u, and the engine has been swapped for a small block ford V-8 (289-351w). The question is how do can I tell what engine it is or what year it was manufactured in, or is there a way to find out what type of car or truck it came out of. Thanks
Thanks that helps a lot. where is the serial # you refer at? (bock, head ,or intake)
This is my first ford engine, I have been working on gm and dodge engines for years. When I found this truck I fell in love with it and I think ford will be my new hobby but I have to start over at the beginning. the # on the intake is 080e-9425-a
I think the 080E- you see on the intake is really d8de, which if so would make the intake at least a 1978 from {most likely} a mid size car. Bear in mind the vagaries of Ford casting numbers. You may have to pull more parts and get more casting numbers to pin down what you have!
