Taller gears
My question: Is there anyone I can call or does anyone out there know if these features will be affected by the installation of the taller gears, and what I would have to do to keep them working accurately. Where can I get the proper speedometer gear.
Any positive input will be greatly appreciated!
Ed
however do not count on your dealer doing it. after you change your gears it gives ford the opportunity to void your warranty, and will void your emissions certificate. dont laugh I've heard of people getting really screwed by ford over this kind of stuff.
the shop that installs the gears, will know how to re-program the speedo.
good luck
You will need to get a ring gear and the 120 tooth tone wheel with it. There is a sensor in the rear differential that monitors these teeth going by it. All the rear ratios have the same number of teeth, the computer doesn't care how fast the driveshaft is turning, just how fast the rear axle is turning.
You make a programming change to the ABS module when the number of revolutions per mile for your tires change! This is done with Ford's scanner and diagnostic tool.
