yeah I'm in college now, so i can tolerate a minimally comfortable ride. I'm very ambitious, and i have a steep learning curve when it comes to my vehicle. My current one, a dodge stealth always has somethin going wrong with it, so i've learned every aspect of its mechanics. I dont want you to think I'm a beginner, but I have a lot of help in my family, my father and uncle have built many cars, so I have that to fall back on. I've got a while til that family thing kicks in, but i will be conscious of the comfort of those lady passengers. but in the end, who cant resist an old ford truck...?
Until I have hte money,
Dan
you have heard several different opinions on what to do for comfort. You have heard fron Niolon who is our resident "I'll just change that" person, he has more experience than anyone else on suspensions. But everybody has an opinion so here is mine. My '51 F1 has a monte carlo under the front and rides and handles very well. I have original leafs under the back on a late model rear end. I am changing the springs this fall for new softer leaf springs. I run a 302 and a C4 trans. The best thing I have done on comfort/ride was I just changed to Ford Expedition seats. It is like driving a totally different truck. The seats were out of a wrecked '02 and cost $200. The best money I have ever spent on my truck. I drive my truck every day and average about 325 miles per week. TO be happy with your choice you need to take some of the earlier advice, sound control, temp control and comfortable seats.
Just my .05 cents worth

"I drive a 'girly' 302 because, when I want to go fast, I go to work"
that's what i want to do, as far as driving it so much. perhaps not 300 miles a week, but in the daily driver category. thats why I'm ok with sacrificing power for drivability and fuel economy. ...to a point. . with my last car, what got me through all the hell it gave me was the forums. I'm not sure any of you know it, but the 3000gt/ dodge stealth forums are incredibly helpful, as this ones seems to be as well. Every time i had a question there were people willing and ready to answer. fantastic help. this forum is huge as well, with good info, which I know will be a big help.
I look forward to drivin my truck.
These trucks were designed for a specific task during an era where minimalizm was the watch word & are going to have a comparitive ride.
But, If you get your Seat Rebuilt as if it were one out of a Custom Cab, purchase Brand New Leaf Springs & Air Ride Shocks you are well on your way to a more comfortable ride.
And C*#!y is a dirty word here.

I want to make a road trip with it once its completed, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
