Question Tune up

I just got a 99 Ranger with 55,000 miles on it.It has platnium plugs in it from the factory.I was wondering if I should change them or just leave them alone. The motor is the 2.5L with 2 plug's per cylinder.

usually single platinum plugs are changed at 60k mile intervals, so yes its about that time. double platinums are good for 100k miles.

I have a 98 3.0 I just changed mine at 42,000. I don't know about the 2.5 but the 3.0 was pain to change, you need a special tool to pull the wires off. The plugs are supposed to last like 100,000. I did so because I was getting a little knocking and had to switch to 89. The old plugs gaps were almost double what they should have been.

The plugs should be good but you should pull them out, check the gap and put antisieze on the threads.
