Spark plug removal

I just picked up a 05 F150 lariat 5.4 2wd with a 177k on it.
What the chances of these plugs coming out with out breaking?
Any tips tricks to getting them out?
Should I put motorcraft plugs back in it ? Or are you guys/gals running other plugs with better luck?

Thanks Mike.

There's a billion or so posts on this topic. Based on your mileage, I would suspect your plugs were changed at least once, otherwise it would be running poorly if at all. Based on my experiences plus additional subsequent posts here, I recommend following the related TSB, us Kroil specifically (not PB Blaster), and employ the use of a 3/8" impact wrench. Also, always have a removal tool handy, just in case.

That's the kicker. I got the truck cheap (750) cause it runs like chit and has never had the plugs changed. It's a clean truck no dent and interior is perfect.

I have not used one for this, but have used a 3/8" impact wrench for other stuff. I have become a believer that it will make this job much more successful. Add to my list warming up the motor first.

My plan was to warn the engine then break the plugs loose and soak them with areokroil for a few days. Then give em a final bath with ATF and acetone

Does anyone rent the plug extractor ?
I don't want to buy one to use one time.

Get the engine hot and run the plugs out with a 3/8 impact or strong air ratchet. You want to keep them spinning until they are out or the carbon will wedge against the ground shield and cylinder head. IMO that is what breaks the plug.
