With all of he current confusion in dietary needs and the food pyramid being turned upside down……the only thing I know for sure.
Anything in excess, cannot be good for anyone.
Now is 1/2 or 3/4 too much.....well....that is the question
well, i do tree removal for a living, so im constantly moving, i lift weights 4 days a week, and just started doing cardio on the treadmill. the reason for the turkey sandwiches is the issue of simplicity; i can just throw them in the cooler and dont hasve to worry about needing a microwave or anything else, and the cooler stays cold enough even on days like today ( 95 degrees )
im trying to cut down on my personal body fat- i have @ 13% right now, im 6'1" 200 pounds. id like to get down @ 6-8 % so im just worried all the fat that milk has in it might prevent me from doing so
I don't know if you buy organic milk, but regular cows are treated with rGBH, thats Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone. The FDA says it can't show a negative effect caused by rGBH, but I figure they'll be saying "woops" in a few years. It tends to make fat collect more in certain areas of the body, such as the breasts.... there are lots of things that it can be attributed too, a simple search will yield.
Reducing fat intake has little/no effect on body fat storage. The bottom line is that to reduce body fat, caloric intake must be less than calories burned. That is why the Atkins-style diets are so popular--the largest percentage of calories often comes from carbohydrates. Fats (of the proper type) help a person to feel full, helping them to actually eat less. Unfortunately, if one's diet is out of balance for too long, this natural effect is unlearned.
Personally, I'd say keep drinking the milk. I often drink close to 1/2 gallon a day myself. If you're overly concerned, switch to 1%. Certain vitamins are fat-soluble, so some fat intake is desirable. 1-2% milk is a good source of this fat, plus an excellent source of calcium. Milk, I've found, also helps relieve heartburn (probably the calcium is the neutralizer).

P.S. I just met a guy that use to have a bet with college kids (mostly frat boys) that he'd pay anyone $50 if they could drink a gallon of whole milk in a 1/2 hour, and hold it down for 1/2 hour. He only paid out once. All at once like that, it's just too much for the stomach. Even the big, burly football players couldn't do it.
What % milk? Mil10n is correct-there are much better sources of calcium (more absorbable). How many calories do you get a day? I would recomend more vegetables.
Is the main purpose to lose fat or gain muscle? I'm confused by the "I have to try to gain weight". Makes a big diff. in the type of diet. If trying to gain muscle weight it sounds like your being TOO active. I was on a similar diet and my g/f's trainer (ex russian olympic trainer) had me cut back my workouts and rest as much as possible in between. I gained 10 lbs in no time. This sounds impossible w/ your job, but if your having trouble in this area this might let you know why.
Too much unabsorbed calcium can give you stones, so I hear. Theres also lots of good reading on the internet if you can sift thru the advertisements.
