Diablosport got back to me, I guess they were just tied up. They said they know about the problem (duh) and they are working on it. It's all good, I'm fine with that answer. I also talked to my dealer and he is very concerned with the problem and wants me to bring it in. I'll keep you fellas updated in this thread.
Yeah, ofcourse he did.........I think he wants to keep the warranty-especially since it's a 6.0. What is the cause of this problem? Where is all this extra preasure coming from to blow coolant from the tank? I think that's what needs to be answered. What's different with the 6.0 and the 7.3 for coolant to blow out? Can anyone answer these? It seems to be one great running engine, but still has a few bugs to work out.
Maybe this has nothing at all to do with the tuner, it could very well be a problem that is somewhat dormant in the stock condition and simply manifests itself exponentially with the tuner…IMO everyone is looking in the wrong place…but only my opinion….Steve has hit on this before
We'll see guys, I'm sending the truck to the dealership next weekend. Hopefully it won't be gone too long. But then again I told my tech that I won't take it back until he knows what the problem is.
There was a post on a different thread here from a guy not using a Predator but a Western Diesel 70 Horse that has similar symptoms. He disconnectred the Western Diesel and is still having the similar symptoms.
I just got a call from the dealer yesterday. They've had it since Friday and told me that they found something wrong inside the top end of the engine and have most of it apart. I asked for more details but my tech didn't know, I think he has a bunch of little techs under his wing who do the repair work and he is the manager but he will be getting back to me today...hopefully.
Scary if your tech didn't know
If that's the case, I hope he's NOT the one doing the work !
this is the biggest problem with the 6-oh's - lack of training for the techs - not sure where the problem stems from - Ford, dealerships, or techs not having the time to get the training... but it is an issue...
Heck, been doing these 'puters for 30+years, and if you ask me to work in languages I don't know, I'm not very much better than a rookie at them...
I talked to the dealer today, turns out the engine stayed in tact- they just removed some hoses and found some with leaks. He called up Ford's hotline and they said NOT to fill between min-max and to always keep it below min or it will overfill and spray out. He orders me a couple of tubes and everything should be alright. Ready for pickup tomorrow...
That's good info for all those with the overflow situation...
be sure to grill them on that point even to the point of having them draw a new min and max line....
take a picture with your svc guys FINGER pointing to the point you should keep it at !
otherwise down the road you may get the
"Well it overheated and cracked the block because your water's too low"
Not that Ford would do that,
but I've had the 'pleasure" of working with some stealerships that would
I told my tech I want a piece of paper stating to keep it below the min level from the dealership so if anything goes wrong I've got proof that it was their suggestion...
I get the truck back today, after about a week. They replaced two blown coolant lines and it makes me wonder..."If the coolant lines were leaking, wouldn't that make it less pressure in the coolant system and not more?" My Tech & I have been swapping voice mails because I work so late but when I pick the truck up I'll have to ask him that question. I think Ford's suggestion to keep it below the minimum mark is a pretty half-assed repair but what are ya gonna do...
