CB Radio!

Has anyone with the Flow-thru console installed a CB radio yet? I would like to keep the Cobra 29LTD with dual 4' whip system I have but as I was looking at the interior I found I would be limited to locations that I could possibly install it to???

Any advice?

Thanx

Good luck amigo. I struggled with ths one when I went to purchase my 04 F150. The dealer had about 98% flowthru consoles. I am an amateur radio operator and needed a place to mount radios as well. I ended up buying the split bench and am very happy with it (had to order from the factory to get want I wanted). Radio not yet install ;-)

I too am looking for a place to mount a CB radio in a truck with the flow thru console. Have you thought about removing the ash tray door? Or maybe a tray mount above the windshield? They don't seem to have figured out a way to put one in the track bins yet, although that would be the perfect place!!! Anybody that figures it out, please post!

Lets see, I went to tuffyproducts.com and they sell a lockable upper center console perfect for CB's but......but if you have the moonroof, forget it!
now, if you have the overhead bin system in your truck, simply remove it and install this one. it's a bit more versitile than the OEM version ford offers and the neat thing bout this is it pivots down for you to see the face then when not in use or leaving you truck, just push it up and lock it! I searched all over for something comparable but to no avail I'm sure with a little more time and effort, I'll find something that will blend with the interior and not cause a havoc to myself and passengers.
Not sure about the ashtray, being that I don't smoke it might be a good place to start.

I have a CB, but not the flowthrough, so i mounted it on the transmission hump with a cell phone holder. Neat application. I have pics in my gallery

Also, an idea for you guys with the flowthroughs, several companies sell an overhead shelving unit. Spans from drivers side to passenger. You can get it from JC Whitney. CB could easily mount in the unit right in the middle

Scott, looked at those and thought about that then realized, hey will I need the map lights? oh yeah, I also have the homelink system that will be set to my home garage etc that is connected to the visor?? decisions, decisions?? now if there was a shelf that split down the middle or individually attach to each side and not bring the visors down too far, I'm there dude! I've seen them somewhere but can't find them now, howdooyalikedat, must be gettin old! "Ooooh the crisis"

Question

I too am looking for a place to mount a CB. I posted a question on the thread a few days ago and got a few responses, but haven't come up with anything yet. What is a flow through cab. Isn't it a 60/40/60 combination, without capt. chairs.

Also does the after market fit on the factory rails and if so how much $ ?

Thanks for your time,

RJ

Try manufacturing a bracket from the seat frame to the side of the flow-through console. I'm am about to make one for my FX4 to mount my galaxy radio. I'll post pictures once i finish fabricating the mount.
