Question Got an idea Please give me input!!!!!!!

Does anybody know how much one of the new 6.0 PSD's costs because if it isn't too much i would like to try to put it in a bronco. Just wanted to know the costs and your thoughts on the idea thanks

Just a guess, at least $5000. plus you will need all the fuel equipment to convert it over, then there's the computer and tranny too...

You would be better off droping a Bronco on top of the PSD frame and calling it good.

Great ideas, but there would be quite a line-up to get either of them and i would think they'd be more then the $5000 quoted.

Actually the Cummins would be a lot cheaper. The earlier motors without the electronic fuel pump ( not sure what year they switched, late 90s ) is pretty simple to wire and the Cummins is cheaper and easier to find. They have been in production for a lot longer and are used in many more applications then the psd. I've been told the non-electronic motors need three wires hooked up to run, can't do that with a psd. Don't get me wrong I LOVE MY PSD, but in your case the Cummins would be so much easier. As for trannies the non-electronic auto that came behind most of the earlier Dodge Cummins should be a fairly easy swap too. That leaves t-case and axles, Dodges after 93 have the front diff on the same side as Fords so you could just use the case that comes with the tranny, but your gonna need at least a Dana 50 front so you need to figure out which front axle you're gonna use and then find a t-case with the correct front output. As for rear axles a Sterling 10.25 from a F-250 or F-350 about the same year as your Bronc should be a bolt in except for the driveshaft yoke, but your stock driveshafts won't hold up anyway and the t-case rear output yoke will be bigger then your stock case so you'll need new shafts too. Make sure you get a full floating Sterling too. Not much of a Dodge guy but I believe this info is accurate, I'll check with my Dodge drivin buddies to make sure.

You can get bell conversion kits from the aftermerket, check out the pre-powerstroke forums, I saw some posts about it there. I've seen the Cummins motors sell for $4000 used, and the conversion was around $500. It isn't cheap, but fuel efficiency and power are higher, and reliability is good
