I got the Explorer on Jan 28 or so. Picked it up at night, and drove home. The next day I go to move it. Put the key in and turn...Nothing. Lights, radio, etc are working fine, but the starter doesn't engage or do anything. Finally after 5 or 6 times trying (opening door, locking/unlocking door, etc) it starts. I can't figure out any combination of things that made it start, but it did. Ran rough, then smoothed out. Moved it to the other side of the drive way, and my wife didn't have any issues with it that day.
About a week goes by and I get a call from my wife that the Explorer won't start. She's stranded at work. So I get there, and she's cranking it, but its not starting. She said that before I got there, nothing was happening. When I got there it was turning, but not starting. I got in, gave it some gas as I was cranking and it started. Ran rough for awhile, but smoothed out with some throttle and ran fine.
Same thing happened maybe two more times to her, and she was able to get it started. Everytime it happened, it hadn't been started for at least 6 hours, and it was cold (below 35 F).
Last weekend we come home after being gone for the long weekend, and she goes to move it out of the driveway so I can back the camper into our garage. She turned the key, and nothing. Turned it again and I watch about a gallon of water get pumped out of the exhaust pipe (it had been raining, but the tailpipe was facing down the driveway. After a bit more cranking it started, ran rough, then smoothed out. Cool day, and wet. (Maybe 60 deg)
Any idea's?

dude bring it to ford and leave it there till they fix it...if they dont go to the dispute settlement board...its in the back of your owners manual...there is no point in you trouble shooting this thing when its brand new
Yea i would agree with jhromy just bring it to ford its warenteed dont try to mess with it or trouble shoot it yourself not worth the time or money when you can get it fixed for free by the pros, how long have you had it for?
Like I said, I got it at the end of January and its happened maybe 6 times.
I agree about taking it to the dealer, and I may before I go on vacation or something. Its hard to give up a car for a week or so at a time! I was just hoping for some suggestions here.
