4.9L Motor mounts

Seems I may have a broken driver side motor mount on my 92 F150 4.9L, M5OD. Can someone tell me the best way to replace it short of letting a garage take care of it. Is this something I want to attempt at home?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Can you do it yourself? Well, I don't know how handy you are but.....

Put a floor jack with a block of wood for support under the engine (some people swear by the pan, some by the harmonic dampner...look for something solid) Use the block of wood between the jack and engine to spread out the force.

Losen the bolts on the motor mounts on the side that needs replaced

Carefully raise the engine, keeping an eye out on hoses, lines, electrical etc until the tension is off the bolts for the mount. They can be removed now.

Raise the engine a little more to get the mount out. Watch your fingers.

Put the new mount in and reverse the procedure. Lining it up is generally pretty simple if you are only doing one at a time. Tighten the bolts to the recommended torque.

Oh yeah... I would change out both. Generally when one goes, the other is not far behind.....

Usually the left first due to engine torque. Good idea to change both. I used a 2x4 and floor jack. Put board on pan rail where bolts are just a few inches behind the mount. I loosened all the bolts first on the mount before jacking to prevent hitting the board and knocking it out.

My 4.9 keeps tearin motor mounts and ive had to replace em every year. Had the truck for almost 4 years now, (it's an 89 if ya wanna know), with a rebuilt enigne that's bout 16 montsh old now and it tore the new motor mounts i put in when i put the engine in within 6 months. Not sure why it keeps tearin teh rubber ones but this fall when i repalce em again,im puttin in polyurethane mounts so i can quit dealin with this hassle. Granted, itll make a slight vibration casue the new poly mounts will be much stiffer than the OE rubber ones but itll be worth it to me.
