Dipstick for 272

Hi does anyone have the correct length for a 1957 272 dipstick. The one I have in the engine is 2.25" longer then the new one I bought for it and that does not sound right. Ed

there are two truck dipsticks one for light trucks and one for h.d.trucks like 3 tons.the h.d. has a deaper base.

the only one i can find is 26 inches.ithink this is the long one.not 100 percent sure.hanging on the wall for years.

That must be the long one. I measured the one on my truck that has the rear sump pan and the dip stick tube is mid way on the engine. It is 13" exposed outside of the block I am sure that few more inches inside of the block. And the dip stick dipper is 20 3/4 long from the stop handle not included and 19 to the full mark. This dip stick I am sure is native to my 57 hope this helps.
