I think I posted this under the diesel section before but got no response, so here I am.
My stereo will not default to the clock display. That is, when I fire up the truck if a cd is in the display shows track number; if it's on the radio it shows the station number. This cannot be right, can it? My Explorer has what looks like the same stereo and it has always defaulted to the clock. I mean, who cares what station or track you're on?
I called the service manager at my dealer and of course he doesn't know--but he "thinks" it's supposed to be that way. Folks, that is not good enough for me.
Before I go around to other dealer's lots and go through the laborious process of "test driving" for the sole purpose of determining whether or not the stereo is supposed to do this (nothing in manual indicates) I'll ask you guys.
Do your stereo displays default to the clock when you fire up your trucks? And stay on clock display until YOU decide to make it show something else?
A minor thing to be sure. But when you're paying in the $30000s for an almost new truck, you want it right. The way it's supposed to be.
Mine has the clock on the right side of the display and the CD track/radio station info on the left. The clock is always on wether the CD or the radio is playing or that the radio is off entirely. I guess I don't have the same radio as you two. (Single CD)
Things may have changed but I believe in my 00 Excursion you had the ability to change the display between clock and cd display and lock it in accordingly. I'm not sure but was there a radio owners manual in the truck, I got the impression that the vehicle was preowned and it may be possible that the manual is gone and all the information isn't in the "big book". Just a thought but nothing definate to help you out.
2002 SD with FM/CD/Cassette combo.
Mine currently defaults to the clock after a short delay I'm not sure if you tried this but the clock button toggles the clock operation on my Explorer. When it is on tuning display you press the clock button once and it defaults to clock mode from then on but on a delay. When you first start the truck it displays the station or CD info for a short time then switches to the clock. If I want it to display tuning or CD info only I hit the clock button when the display is showing the clock and it will default to tuning info only. Anyway that is the way my Explorer radio worked, I really haven’t fooled with that function on my SD but I assumed it worked the same way.
2003 250 CC - I have the single cd/am fm/ cassette combo in my truck, and yes if you press the clock button the display will show you track number etc. and then change to the clock. I notice that it always displays the station (if in the radio mode), track info (if CD playing), and then switches to the time display after about 30 secs. Hope this helps.
Nope. 5 seconds didn't work. Think it's defective. I just want to see the time when I look over, you know? Going to the dealer I guess. I suppose if he can show me just one stereo that does this, I'll give it up and motor on happily.
