I bought a new Super Duty the other night. After closer inspection when I got home I found at least 10 paint bubbles throughout the paint job throughout the truck. There are probably many more...just lost the patience looking for them. I traded in my old F-Series for that very reason. This past winter several paint bubbles had chipped off on my old truck - so I was ready to get something brand new. Since I had bought that used but was extremely happy with the Super Duty.
I am going to demand they give me a different truck. Over half of the truck would need repainted to address the bubbles. Bubbles are located on 2 doors the tailgate and the front quarter panel and who knows how many more that I didnt find. Along with that it appears one bubble already cracked and the metal is exposed - on top of that I can count at least 10 scratches. I cant believe they sold this thing to me!
Truckman,
Seems to me you were in a hurry to buy this truck and if you had this problem before, why did you not inspect it closer? After the fact though, Ford should be replacing any items under warranty that are defective, especially the bubbly paint, even if it takes painting half the truck. You paid a good penny for that truck and should be a happy camper if they (Ford) want you to buy from them again. Just my .02

Well thanks for telling me what you would do. Your post was not helpful. I inspected the truck after the first wash. Anyways they will replace the truck - I will not accept a brand new truck that needs to be repainted because the factory job is wrong.
Truckman, regardless of how much of a hurry you were in, it's nice to hear that FORD is going to step up and make things right. I wonder why THEY were in so much of a hurry that it wasn't inspected properly. I would have gone back to the dealer and do just what you did. Congrats on the new truck.
Hopefully it will turn out alright...Many times people don't examine their truck before taking delivery. I have heard too many horror stories..Maybe this thread will teach other people....Good luck..
I can see why you'd miss it. I mean, you buting a new truck... Who you'd think you'd need to inspect it to the level of buying a used one. Coupled with the thrill of a new truck... Sure, I'd prolly miss it to.
I'm sure Ford will make good on it, so try not to over-stress about it. Shame it happened, but at least there is a remedy. I had to have a new '01 Camaro Z-28 repainted shortly after taking possession of it. There were some clearcoat defects and areas of thin paint. I contacted the dealership right away (within one week) and the dealership apologized profusely, paid for a rental car for me to use, allowed me to personally witness the repainting and clear-coating, and made what could have been a totally miserable situation tolerable as best they could.
It's not like your purchase was a used "as-is" deal. The warranty should cover all repairs. Period.
Hang in there, it'll all work out. Then you'll have your shiny new truck and an ear-to-ear grin!
Best,
Daryl
PS- I would be curious to know if they actually REPLACE the truck, or just offer to repaint the whole thing. And, if they only offer to repaint it, will they provide you a free rental vehicle in the meantime.
Why replace it? Every truck ever made had paint on it, so why's the big deal with having it repainted? Just this time inspect the work, make sure it is right. Heck I worked at a new car dealership years ago and you would have been surprised how many touch up jobs we did on new stuff.
I worked at 2 independent body shops and we did get brand new cars in from the local dealers occasionally for minor dent repairs and re-paints for scratches and paint defects.
