until Ford gets rid of the BLACK BOX RECORDERS that are in everyone they build...no chip or tuner........they record all of the data for the motor just like your computer.... besides these trucks do not need the boost...my truck runs as quick and has much more power then my 460 in my 78 F-250.....both trucks actually pulled a 15000# construction trailer with no problems...very capable of keeping up in traffic....these are not race trucks....use them for what they designed for......

Wow! Remember, this is America! We get to choose to do with our property as we see fit.
What black box recorder? Prove it with facts from Ford. Not posts from some crazy conspiracy forum.
Many of the manufacturers have put recording capability into the AirBag controller. This allows them to see real world data of what occurred during an accident and improve the occupant protection software. It's not new and GM had it earlier then Ford, which has been in the P131 platform for a few years if not always.
As far as I'm concerned, they are welcome to buy the box and data from me after an accident, but at the present time it's my property. However, if I'm falsely accused for being at fault in an accident, they can look at it for free as long as they share .

Is this recorded data stored within the PCM or another module? Surely there is a limit as to how much data it can record and store. What can be done to preserve our privacy?
i have heard of this before, but never in my time as a diesel tech at ford dealer.
.....the rumored beast.....
it is said to be a constant loop recorder (15 seconds at a time, each new rec pushes off the oldest) that senses pitch, and yaw, etc. when a certain level of force is sensed,(accident or other) it stores that 15 sec piece and starts another.
its parameters would have to be high enough to stand a hard braking w/out storing or the mem would be full pretty quickly, and our trucks will never accelerate as fast as they brake, so we dont need to worry about it.
but ive never seen anything like this and ive TORN APART a LOT of cars and trucks
Not my area of expertise, but my understanding is close to what bighoss550 stated, although a longer period of time and it's not something that is going to cause any owner warranty grief.
What I've been led to understand is it a chip with the RCM (Restraints Control Module) located under the dash at the driveshaft hump.
I don't think there is enough memory in one of these to record very much in the way of statistics. I think it is like bighoss550 said. I am doing some digging around to see some real info on it.

Any of you that has a shop manual should be able to identify this and discover the limits. We should also discover if we are able to remove this recorder. I feel that these will nearly always be used by authorities to our detriment.
