Emergency Brake Problem
89 bII 4X4, IM having problem with the ermegency brake cable, it has too much slack in the line, when i put the pedal down to the floor it doesnt get enough pull to engage back brakes enough... i tried messing with the nut on the tension thingy.. on the driver side. NO luck can someone tell me how to fix it or give me some direction.

First check the rear brakes.My e-brakes stop working on my 89 Ranger ,found out the rear brack where wore out {not metal to metal but real thin}.I reaplaced the rear brakes and the e-brake works like a top.JMO

When you say there was no luck at adjusting the equalizer; Did it adjust? I find mine freezes up over a period of time and you have to heat it up a little to get things moving. If that is what happening, try a little heat to free it up. If not I'd open the drums up, inspect the brakes, adjust the rear brakes, then re-adjust the E-brake tension. Make sure you are you don't over adjust and have them dragging on you. You just want the slack gone. Three to four clicks is what you usually want when applying the E-brake.
