Got my 97 last 4th of July with 41k miles on it. Production date was 11/97. It was purchased five years earlier in June of 98, guy had a new 2003 sittin' in the driveway, needless to say, I'm keeping his phone number. My father purchased his early 99 (one of the first one I had seen) in November of 98. We both reside in CA., and often talk to each other regarding our engines. Not much the same, as since they run so good, we're pretty much just throwing filters at them. I figured since he was sold on his truck, I could trust his judgement, being that he's owned handfulls of big rigs over the last 35 years.

I understand that, but I was referring more to the new body style. While some people rush to be the first on their block to have the latest design, others will shy away from a new product until the percieved "bugs" are worked out.
97 and love it, the newer body style is pretty (especially compared to the new GM and Dodge, uuuggllyy) but I prefer the slightly older Fords myself(pre 99).
Like I said basicly the same motor it also has differant backets alt, ps pump, ac pump, no vacume pump the BOLT ON list gose on and on
Yes, but ALL the 7.3 PSDs are basically the same motor. Injectors were upgraded to split shots on all models in 1999, intercooler, turbo (1999 or 2000?), fuel system, oil capacity, etc. When the PSD was first introduced in 1994.5 the oil capacity was 12 quarts and it put out 215HP/425 lb ft. By 1997 it held 14 quarts of oil and put out 225HP/480 lb ft. What's my pooint? Even though they made changes in the 1999 model year all PSDs are basically the same engine.
Mine's a 97 F350 dually plain cab with a flat bed. No known mods. 342 k miles (not my own). Bought used in 2002, great body. Seems it had a service bed on it for a guy that used it to run a portable semi service for his trucks. Got it running yesterday, what a relief. I feel for U prcrboy, mine's got 4.10's too and the mileage is about the same ( but I can pull the state of Oklahoma, maybe Texas too).

Mine is a 2002, my first diesel and I will never go back to gassers, In the fire service we have a lot of PSD's but they are so choked back and slow(VERY abused too!) that I never knew this motor's potential. I love it!!!!!

Ps. You guys on this sight make owning a PSD even better. Thanks for all the help and knowledge shared here.
Mine's a 2002, bought it new, 70,450 miles on it now and the only thing I've done other than normal maintenance was I had to have the front rotors turned at 36,000. Great truck, wouldn't trade it for any other truck out there....
