My first FORD

I must admit that I never thought I would own a Ford truck. When I went to the dealer and I test drove the 2001 Sport Track (with only 30,000 miles) I could not believe how well it rode! I then called a close friend that IS the sales manager for the west side of Florida and he assured me that this truck is reliable and fun!
So, I bought the truck and I realy like it.
Quick questions to the members.

1-Any preventable or non preventable issues I should be aware of with this truck?
(transmission, air, sensores?)

2-How many miles per gallon can I expect in the city/highway?

How dependable is this truck?

I am very impressed with the comfort and smoothness of this truck and I would like to keep it for a LOOOOOOOONG time.
Please any replies direct them to this thread.
Thanks!

Gil Hidalgo,
Orlando, Forida.

Welcome to 'the family' Gil. I hope that Sport Trac provides you with years of enjoyment. As for your questions, we have a dedicated Explorer, Sport Trac, Mountaineer & Aviator forum that is a better place to ask them. A moderator might swing by and bump this thread over there for you.

Hello Gil. I have 67000 miles on mine, only problem has been an occasional inoperative rear wiper. Judging from the contributors to the forum, a pattern shows.....transmissions (valve body), differential, poor idling (dirty throttle body valve, dirty idle air contol motor, dirty MAF sensor), inoperative power windows and locks.
I guess you'll be OK as long as you don't get more than your share of the random number of defects.
I'm getting from 18 to 23 mpg, which most feel is excellent for this type of vehicle.
Recommendation: Be diligent about preventive maintenance and don't drive it too rough.
