What are the symptoms and/or noises indicating that the torque convertor is going out? When and at what speeds do they occur? When I let off the throttle and coast, usually at 45mph or less, it seems like the torque convertor or something engages and disengages. It has a sound like the engine comes on and off a few times before staying on. Is this normal. I've been driving PSD'S for 5 years with the manual transmission so this is my first experience with the automatic. I have heard the horror stories about the bad convertors and don't want the same thing to happen and would like to catch it ahead of time. My truck is a 99 F250 SD PSD with the auto of course with 52000 on it. I just bought it so I don't know if this is normal. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Your transmission has a locking torque convertor.
It sounds like it is operating normally. When the T/C starts to fail, the first signs are usually strange noises. Sometimes while parked and idling in gear they will sound like a washing machine, and other times you'll hear a rattling sound when it locks or unlocks. Hopefully you just have the new truck jitters
You should have the computer scanned for and trouble codes. It could be a bad TCC sensor. That is the sensor that locks and unlocks the torque converter. You don't need to worry because the truck is still under warranty.
