i second that vote. i was young when i saw it. that chrome ball still haunts me. another one that got me was "trilogy of terror" with karen black. that little doll freaked me out. the most recent movie that scared me was :
28 days later. i watched it at home in my home with my home theater system; there was a part where the actors were wispering for a long time, my wife got mad and kept telling me to turn it up. well i did, and sure enough, on the next "attack" scene, the movie got real loud and my sub-wolfers darn near shook us off the sofa. my wife had to use the bathroom after that.
I just thought of another one... "The Hitcher" with Rutger Hauer. I thought that one was a great classic horror in the tradition of Hitchcock. No blood or gore. You did all the special effects work in your head. The goriest part was when the kid finds a finger covered in blood on his frechfries covered in ketchup.
i hate to admit it, but, The Blair Witch Project scared the cr@p out of me, even though i knew it was fake while watching it. when it came out on DVD, i rented it for my wife. i didn't tell her it was fake. she was sobbing through the whole movie "those poor kids". at the end, i told her it was fake. she was very, very mad at me for putting her through that; thank goodness i have a comfortable sofa
