I have an intermittent spark on my 86 F250 I-6 300. I replaced ignition modules and checked cap & rotor. The distributor is a remanufactured unit purchased and installed in early April. I checked the coil and it's good. I had spark for a little while this afternoon after jiggling some wires, but not any more.
There were some connectors on the old carb that are no longer connected since I installed a new 2bbl. Could this have anything to do with it?
I'm thinking of just replacing the distributor (again) only this time with an aftermarket vacuum advance type distributor. Whaddya all think? Any recommendations?
1° Verify/Replace Ignition switch
2° Verify/Replace Magnetic coil inside distributor
3° Disconect and Reconect ALL conectors at engine compartment
Connectors at previous carb??? it seem to me your truck was original Electric Feedback carb, Isn't it???
I'm not sure it was a feedback carb or not. I'm not knowledgeable enough on that to be able to tell. The carb had three different places where electrical solenoids or something like that were hooked up. How can I tell, not that it matters now that I've replaced it with a 2bbl.
Well, spark is also controlled by same computer that controlls Electric carb. I don't know what the computer do if there is no electric carb connected....
