OK, So I spy this REALLY sexy 02 F-250 CC 4X4 PSD on E-Bay. I've lusted after just such a truck for a long time so I put in a bid, not really too serious since these things never seem to work out, the truck is worth lots more than my high bid and I'm not really looking right now... I don't meet the reserve but we call and chat and right up front he explains how he installed the Western Performance chip AND propane... On a cold morning in front of the nephews he cranks the chip all the way up and stands on it promptly sending a rod through the block!?! He takes it to the local dealer and has a new engine installed (complete reciepts). SO the truck has 20K on it and the engine 2K. The Tranny got the HD massage at ATO transmissions in CA at 11K. He also says it comes with these Weld Racing 20" "Slingblade" wheels with 35" Toyo's mounted and a spare set to go with them!?! He'll also throw in the original wheels with 90% rubber on them!!! He'll even throw in the chip. Call me stupid but we split the difference on price and I have been driving around in this incredible truck with this s--- eating grin on my face ever since.
I am in Iowa City everyday but live in the country. I would love to get together and talk truck as most folks have no clue about a PSD and you all seem to have worked out a lot of the problems. There aren't any guages, yet :} The guy I got it from has several powerstrokes and since he was coming down on the price he kept it. I am a little scared to reinstall the chip and lose the warranty. I have heard that Ford, on a big cost saving kick is denying warranty claims for any possible reason, especially aftermarket air cleaners. Am I just being a sissy worring about the warranty? The truck is immaculate, everything feels tight and it runs and shifts perfectly. I know the Super Duty is a strong unit but i thought I'd shake it down a while before I go for more POWER. Any thoughts guys? I am selling the Welds and Toyos as they rub a lot and are worth a years payments. Glad to be aboard!
My engine in my 87 F150 overheats and siezes (my fault). (267K miles)
My wife sees this 2002 F350 4x4 PSD Crewab on ebay with a "But it now" that was $8K less than NADA retail. I call the guy (a wholesaler) and ask if he'll take 2K less than the "BIN".
He says Yes ... I say pick me up at the Houston airport in three hours. I hop a Southwest flight from ABQ to Houston ... pay my money, and drive it back that night. Home at 9AM ...(sleep till 3PM)
Love the truck, LOVED the price
(gotta get that 87 fixed though ... the kids start driving in a year or so....)
