I've gotten some good advise here in the past and now have
a couple questions.#1 Why is the cavitation problem more serious
with the diesel than a gas engine? and #2 Recently I had the
usual clutch release problem and replaced the whole release system,Both cylinders and connecting line.That cured the problem
but what was wrong with the old parts? There were no leaks,
fluid level was ok and I had already replaced the plastic bushing on the pedal to master cylinder.Couple mechanics at
garage couldn't answer-they just knew it worked.

This may not be correct, but I read in a 4x4 magazine that the loud knocking polarizes the oxygen molecule into a boaring tool and eats through the liners. Cavitation is known on all diesels, but just not a problem to some makes of diesels. Ford and chevy tend to have this problem, but cummins does not. That is because cummins has sleeves and Ford/chevy's are part of the block. To prevent cavitation you should use Fords # FW-16 or Nalcool/Penray additives.
