Car Crash

I had quite an interesting morning today. On the way to school today our bus driver blacked out and we drove off the side of the road. Here's the report that CKNW made:
School bus crash

SURREY(CKNW/AM980) -- It was very fortunate students on a school bus were not hurt after the bus crashed into a Surrey yard in the 162 hundred block of 80th Avenue.

Twenty or so students were on their way to a Christian school when the bus driver blacked out.

The bus narrowly missed a very large boulder, then took out a fence and ended up in a vegetable garden.

The driver is in hospital, the children are OK.

it was exciting. The bus just started drifting to the side of the road so I just assumed that she was driving around a car that was turning, but then the bus hit the curb so I knew something wasn't right. I looked in the mirror and saw the bus driver slumped over the steering wheel. Well we went across the sidewalk and into a chainlink fence. There was a steel gate that is now 10' down the road. The fence posts where a peice of PVC pipe around a cement post with a peice of rebar down it. we took out about 3 of those. When the bus stoped, me and a friend went up to the front. She turned off the bus and started to help the driver and I put on the parking brake. When the driver came to she was clueless that anything had even happened. some people helped her off the bus and a friend of mine called an ambulance. it was preaty exciting.

Thats a very interesting way to start the morning for sure.

On another note did they ever figure out what happened with that city bus last week where all of the people started getting sick? I know it turned out the pellets they found were nothing but thats an odd one.

Naw, they're still working on it. I heard this morning that they're calling in some experts from RCMP in Alberta.

I just found out that my story made front page of the Province. The problem is that they got a lot of the story wrong.

glad to hear your ok. I have been obsessed with driving and vehicles since a very young age. i was fortunate to work on my BIL's truck yard and got to learn to drive Semis on the yard. for the 2 years i rode a school bus to junior high, i always sat in the front seat and i would watch our driver like a hawk. i paid attention to every shift, every double clutching, speed, rpm, everything. i would daydream that the driver would blackout and i would be the hero and take control of the bus to safety. but, our driver never blacked out. Of course, if she ever did, i would have probably peed my pants.
