sorry i keep asking all this stuff.. im just trying to get some of the quirks out of the bronx. Anyway, the passenger door lock doesnt lock. I mean if you use the key or just push it down it works.. but the power lock wont do it. The actuator is still plugged in (my drive side fell out once and i just plugged it back in to get it working again) and the linkage is still linked.. what else could it be?
Can you here the lock solenoid move? If you can it may only need some lube as mine on my 89 BII needs every now & than. Spray some lube oil or light grease down the manual pull up lock. Try to lube all the mechanical connections fom the lock solenoid to door lock.
Does it try to lock? I know on my BII, the linkages are a little stiff, and it takes a few presses of the lock button to get the lock to come down enough to lock.
Well now that i think about it.. it used to be sticky. It would lock with one try, but to unlock would take a few pushes. Now the solenoid doest move at all. I mean it moves fine when i reach in there pull with my hand, but not with the button at all. The bottons on both sides work the other locks though so i dont think its just a bad wire. Now call me an idiot but it sounds like my solenoid is gone to me.. whaddaya think?
The circuit has a lock solenoid an unlock solenoid the door switches & lock motors. The lock solenoid applies voltage to one side of all lock motors & the unlock solenoid applies voltage to the other side of all lock motors. So it's not the solenoid. Sounds like your not getting voltage from the lock solenoid on the pink/yellow stripe wire at the lock motor.
If you want to be able to easily fix this sort of thing go here www.helminc.com & buy the "Ford electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual."
When mine quit, it was a broken wire between the drivers door and the fender well. If I opened my driver door the locks would work, if I closed the door they would not. Used a tester to find which wire, then cut it and installed butt splice connector and heatshrink over the repair. Four years later and it still works fine. Also check the relays in the front by the horn.
Thanks a ton ken.. i think i can figure it out with that diagram and especially those pictures included. Once again you saved me buddy. thanks again.
Ill let ya know how it turns out.
