I own a 1996 E250 5.8L Van. About a year and a half ago I started to get a very low speed engine surge. If it was a game of tennis or football the Ref would call it one the line. Exactly the time you aren't really stepping on the gas but you aren't just coasting either ,I get a little voom voom voom...just enough to buck the van. If I keep my foot exactly in the same spot I can do it for a long way. Problem does not go away after the truck warms up. I have cleaned and checked the IAC, the dealer has cleaned the throttle body and injectors. I have spent "a lot" of money and it has not gotten any better nor any worse. This is a 4x4 so it is a problem in the woods. Right when you want to crawl over some wet rocks or some dead trees, I get the vooom vooom voom...HELP, Please, it is driving me nuts. Jim
Hey,I have a 96 F-150 5.8 and it does the exact same thing as yours is doing..When you give it very light throttle it surges..I was going to have my fuel system cleaned but I guess I wont since it didnt help yours. I changed plugs and fuel filter and it didnt help much. Any suggestions please post them because it kinda bugs me to..
After about $1500 bucks the local Ford dealer said...."well, some Fords just do that"...I was shocked...that was the first time they didn't want to take MORE money from me. Something has changed because it didn't do it two years ago.....I did a complete check of IAC and it checked out. BUT...my IAC has a little **** on the top....does anybody know what that is for?
