Well, I'll open up a new can of worms here. My short bed 02PSD when fully loaded with 30 gallons of fuel sags on the left rear corner when you look at it from the rear. Are they all prone to this or do I have a weak set of springs on that corner? I've not tape measured it but just looking, I'd say it sags a couple of inches, enought that it is noticable and bugs a perfectioness like me. Now everybody go out and measure your trucks a lets see if I have a one and only. Thanks.
I always thought mine sagged the same way, I was underneath running wires for the BackUp lights and I noticed the large spring, first one from axle up, was cracked. How that happened I don't know, bought the truck used. Anyway, you might check that. I was going to have a new spring put in, but it was cheaper for me to get some air bags to level it out, plus I wanted the air bags anyway.
I've looked at my springs and none are broke. Will probably get this set re-arched in town or see if they want to put another spring in the set. Thanks...it's just that it looks awful to me as that is the first thing I see when approching it from the rear.
My 96 is the same way. In fact, I even had a broken right rear spring and it still sagged on the left. After installing new springs it's better but still about an inch lower. Not sure about your newer truck but mine carries alot of fuel weight on that side. It bugs me too.
I think mine gets better with hardley any fuel in the tank, but I'm one to keep it topped off so 99% of the time, it's sagging. I hold 30 gallons on my short bed which I would guess adds 250lbs to that side and corner.
I took my 99 in for an alignment and they informed me that I had about a 1" sag to the left side. At first I thought....that's the side I sit on, but then quickly threw in the fact that like you, I keep it topped off as much as possible. Design flau? Probably. That may have something to do with their "New Idea" of coil springs in the 05's. I don't see how a coil could work better, but who's to argue with engineers???
