Shipping a car

I'm thinking about buying a car off of eBay and was wondering what my options would be to ship it.

Are there companies that specialize in this?

There are.....but its much cheaper to put out an add in the area purchased for people looking to travel cheap. I know people who have done just that, as the driver. You cover the gas and lodging......they drive the car. Works out well....sometimes.
My question......are you going to buy a car sight unseen?

Thanks Peppy.

I'm looking for a project car, so seeing isn't quite as important as it would be otherwise.

Since the car I get may not be running, driving it down also isn't an option.

JD - that sounds like what I'm looking for. Do they charge by the mile or the hour or what? Any ideas of the rates?

I bought my current bronco off of ebay, and I used a shipping service(open car carrier) to get it from Miami to my residence here in MA. It cost me $650 door to door delivery. I used http://www.dependableautoshippers.com/ , and was pleased with the result.

Thanks wheel. I'll check them out.

JD - I haven't bought a car yet, but the one that I'm looking at is in Chicago and I live in Houston.

Thanks.

I know a guys in Ohio and Texas that do just that......drive hot shots just about anywhere. Not sure of eithers prices. If nothing else works out they way you want...I'll see about some prices for you. I would think the link WheelMA1 gave you would be a better start.

Thanks all.

If I win the auction, I'll start calling around!

Oh yeah, Jimmy Dean, I'm looking at a Triumph TR6.
