Alright hopefully someone can help me. I have a 76 F250 4x4 with a 360 Fe and C6 auto trans. It has 4.10 gears. Motor mods are a set of Dyno max headers, Edelbrock performer intake and cam . Holley 670 Truck avenger carb with a 7.5 power valve with a .70 jet. Plugs look real good. the problem i'm having is it stumbles when you try to accelerate real hard. I currently have a orange accelerator cam. I went from a 28 squirter to a 31 but its still there. Should i go bigger or try a different cam. Any help is appreciated.
Hrm. Take the air cleaner off of it and work the throttle. You should see the accelerator pump squirt gas in the primary throttle bores. I always used to run the brown cam on mine. It could have been orange at one time though, lol.
I'd suggest you get a rebuild kit and go through the whole thing. They're really not hard once you get 'em figured out. My guess as to the problem would be a leaking check ball (unlikely but possible), or a leaking accelerator pump diaphram.
The accelerator squirts soon as the throttle is hit. The carb is only a year old but i did notice when i put in my power valve was that on the metering plate the top plugs that block off the holes that where drilled for the main jets let air escape around them when i cleaned out the metering block when i changed my power valve. Could that be my problem?
