The line that feeds my rear brake that run in the frame rails beside the gas tank broke yesterday almost killing me. Luckily I was going slow when it happened. Don't know if anyone else has seen this problem before. No idea how it happened.
I did not get to see the line, only feel it seperated. It is now at a shop getting fixed. It was bad, since the pedal dropped to the floor right after it happened. I lost almost all my fluid. I will be sure to ask the mechanic what happened.
It is very common to happen on older vehicles, but a 99 seems a little odd unless the vehicle is not used a lot. I have already had to replace brakelines on a 98 pontiac that sat around a lot.
The first thing that cam to my mind was being from the lift. Possibly over streched the line for a short period of time while putting the rear springs in. But I would not of thought it to affect the line way up there, everything looked fine when we were putting them in, just a little snug. We checked the lines for to much tension quite a few times each side during the install.
