Digital odometer Error 3?
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 1992 Bronco Custom from the local sheriff's office. At the time of purchase, the odometer didn't work, but after replacing a fuse, it came back to life. But now it alternates between displaying the mileage and the words "Error 3." What does this mean and is there a way to reset the thing? I'm completely new to Bronco's, so any advice is appreciated. IIRC, this means that it's not the actual mileage. The computer knows that the truck ran for awhile without a functioning odometer, so it's trying to let you know that your mileage is incorrect. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's what I read when I was researching speedo recalibration.

Thanks for the advice. That was the same conclusion that I came to. I know the sheriff's office drove the vehicle around the parking lot a few times, but other than that, the mileage is very close to that stated. Do you know a way to make the "Error 3" message go away? Does holding the rest button in while turning the key to the run position have any effect?

I believe that it will clear itself if you go into the dealer program mode... although I'm not sure. It's worth a try. There is a jumper you need to ground, then turn the key while holding reset... try this website:
