why would someone want to drop a v8 into a swedish car? The reason for owning a volvo is to get decent MPG and a safe car.

I saw one in CT a few years back. When the guy first started it up, I said to one of my friends that the thing sounded like crap. Just as I said that, the guy revved it, and made it quite obvious that it was not a poor running four-banger.

Some of us just like old Volvos, and a V8 in one is the ultimate sleeper, nobody expects it. I have seen a 350 Chev. in a 244 (I guess that would make it a 284) and a V8, don't remember what, in a P1800. (That's the Volvo sports car they built from '61 to '73. The last year they also came as a P1800 ES, the cool two-door wagon). I had a '70 142 that I cut the roof off of and made into a convertable, I was planning to put a 302 in it, just never got around to it. When I lived in Sweden, all the kids had Hotrodded Volvos, but most were just the built 4-cylinders. You can get a lot of power out of one, but it's still a 4-cylinder. I had a German-built Fiat 1100, called a Neckar. I still almost vomit when I think about it.... -TD
