interesting swaps???
I was just reading the shop manual I have for 1974 trucks, and it lists all of the possible differential/tranny t-case combos for the full range of trucks. My question is has anyone ever swapped in any of the larger truck stuff(rockwell axles for example) into the lighter 3/4-1 ton trucks??? What stuff fits, if any? There are some interesting larger trannies listed as well.

I've heard of guys getting a 5 spd overdrive out of a 67-79 heavy truck/ school bus and swapping it into the light duty pickups. It's a lot bigger and heavier than the T18 or NP435 but that's the only factory 5spd od for a FE engine... I've never ran across a 5 spd od, otherwise I'd have bolted one to my 390 too...
