2000 7.3 getting 13 mpg city and trying to locate screen that i keep reading to clean is this on fuel return line on feul filter housing toward driver side or is it somwhere else reason for asking is i took return line off removed spring , brass piece with really small orfice and insert that brass piece slides took all three pieces out and didnt see no screen and physically looked hole nothing thier
just want to make sure i am looking in right place
if i am do i need to get a screen in thier ?
ony had the truck for 3 weeks my chevy blazer gets better mpg ( ouch )
thanks for any reply
You don't need to take apart the FPR screen to clean it. It's at the top right inside the fuel bowl as you face the engine. I also don't think that the 1999 and newer trucks have a return fuel line????? Wasn't that the cause of the infamous "cackle" issue?
i have the chilton 99-02 they say i got it and i do have two fuel line connecting
to fuel filter housing and thier is no screen inside filter bowl top right and i dont know if thier is supposed to be one in thier
return line is the one closest to top of filter bowl and supply is closest to bottom of filter bowl
does any one have a 2000 7.3 with this screen
thanks agian
Did you check all the way in the opening? The screen isn't on the surface. Yes, the newer PSDs should have a screen. My parents have a 2001 and there's has one.
yea i looked throught the hole i had whole assembly apart the screen is not thier and woundering if i should reinstall one
maybe previous owner took it out ?
no it not lying inside the filter bowl i cleaned it out
i am assuming the screen prevents that small orfice from getting plugged up
any thougts
i checked out your link and that assembly doesnt look anything on my filter bowl i wish i had a digital camera i woud send a pic
is thier some place i can go to find a breakdown of the fuel filter bowl on a 2000 7.3
that chilton book witch i think sucks doesnt show parts for fuel filter bowl
still need help on this iam still only getting 13 mpg on 2000 7.3 psd keeping rpm below 2000 and thier is no screen ( had the whole ssembly apart and cleaned could see clearly trhough it from inside fuel filter/water seperator to the outside of filter housing no screen ) in the fuel return line on fuel filter/water seperator everthing is factory yet in including intake and exhaust no mods except 3 piller guage boost tranny temp and egt are all running normal and air filter is clean.
i read a thread were a bad cmp sensor could give poor gas mpg any thought on that also is this 13 mpg normal for a stock 7.3 ? and doi need to do mods like intake and exhaust , chip to get my mpg up to 17/18 mpg any thought on this would be much apreacheated this is my first desiel and i not sure what to expect for mpg but thought it would be better than 13
oh i i do fillup at a truck stop where thier is a large turn around on fuel
so for long post
