Maybe there's a burr or deformity in that area that prohibits the rubber from sealing around the plug cavity?

In my way of thinking, there has to be something allowing water/mud to contaminate the coil connectors - either at the spark plug contact or at the outer electronics area.
I did not see the install. i"ll mention it next time.I'm sure i'll be getting it done sooner or later again.

In my shop, this is a fairly common occurence on these style coils. The older ones with plug wires seem to be much more relyable. The boots get old and crack, which leaks spark energy to ground.

I would question something else... not istallation procedure. Measure voltage going to each coil and make sure that they're all the same. Next time it happens, move another coil to that spot and put the new one in its place. See how long it takes to go bad. Makes no sense that the same one keeps going.

antifreeze is my problem

I have been having misfires on the passenger rear COP. My issue is antifreeze in the COP/sparkplug hole. If I blow it out with air and change the plug it runs fine. But it always returns. First I was told it was from a heater hose located above the hole. I checked, that wasn't an issue. I checked the TSBs and found one that said there is an issue with certain 5.4s that occasionally leak antifreeze from the intake gasket. I am replacing the gaskets tonight. I'll let you know if it made a difference.
