I have seached this board and many others and still I am not sure where I should start.
My 93 F150 has a gas gauge problem that has me baffled.
The gas gauge reads empty when the selector switch is in either position.
I have only had the truck for a week, and have only used the front tank.
I dont know if both tanks pump or not, I have flipped the switch to the rear tank and the truck stays running, but I dont know if it is actually running off the rear tank or not swapping tanks and still running off the front.
There is a fuel pump test port on the ecc test plug. Get a pin out diagram of this plug and plug a wire into it then turn on the ignition and ground the wire. If you disconnect the high pressure pump on the frame rail you can hear the pumps run in the tanks move the tank selector and the corresponding pump should run. And yes the chances are good that both floats are bad.
