I have a 1985 F250 with 520,000 miles YES 520,000.
The factory hubs took a dive @ 300,000 miles, the set of Warn hubs lasted around 100,000 miles, the set of superwinch lasted 75,000 miles the 2nd set of superwinch about 25,000 and the latest set were factory FORD hubs lasted untel I goy stuck on U.S.forestry land while I was cutting firewood.
My question is why are thay dying so darn fast?
The front end is factory Dana 44,no mods,no lift,Tires are 235/85/16 with a mud tread.
What is my FORD'S proublem? What can I do?Its just not right a 4x4 with no 4x4.
You need to make sure you have assembled them correctly and make sure they are greased real good, I have a 78 fored f-150 with 284,000 and it has the original hubs. I have regreased them each year.
The hubs should have allen screws around them. always check those to make sure they dont loosen up. if the become loose your hub will go very quickly. it usually happens after and aftermarket change, so make sure you check them and good luck
