additional tranny cooler

I was told that I can prolong transmission/engine life by installing an addition tranny fluid cooler under the hood.
True? Anybody done it? What kind of cooler/radiator did you use? I own a 2000 F250, couldnt be happier, I want this truck to last me as long as possible!
Thanks

Most of the heavy duty trucks come with a good cooler from the factory, but if you want additional you can purchase a trans cooler at most autoparts and install it. It would not hurt only help

It depends on what you are using it for. We installed a fifth wheel in the box of ours and pull a 3 car wedge trailer with it. An old mechanic who works with us has a 93 F350 and finally put in a racing tranny cooler which gave him the cooling he wanted. For normal applications, the factory cooler should be fine.
