Which Throttle Position Sensor?????
Local parts stores tell me there are two different throttle position sensors for my '87 F250, 2WD, 300-6 and they need the number from the one on it to tell which to sell me. This is not the original TPS on this truck, though, (changed before I bought it), and I'm not sure if the correct one is on it or not. How can you tell or find out what the correct TPS is?

Parts guys can do a few things if they know what they're doing. If the one on your truck has a number on it, they can do a cross on a competitor's number. If that's not an option, take the old one in and they can physically compare the new ones to the one you've got. If they have to order them, most places will order the new ones w/o payment so they don't have to do a return on the wrong one. You probably have the right one if the wires are routed properly and it ran right at some point. Usually there is some easily noticed physical difference between the two, like the plug oriented 90 degrees different etc.
