Rear end code
I tried doing a search for the code deciphering on the rear end tag, with not much success. Can someone decipher this for me. I basically need to know what "kind" of rear end it is: Dana 44, 60, etc. I believe it came out of a 3/4T CC SB, but can not say that with confidence. Thanks, here is the code.

That I believe is the part number. The D6 portion means it's for a '76. Look on the axle housing for a metal tag attached to one of the bolts. This is the rear end ID tag. Find the numbers and post them. Do a search on this site for rear end ID and I'm sure you will finds tons of info.

OK then you have the 3:54:1 open rear. D6T5-GA might be the bearing code but looks more like a part #. The other numbers might be a build date or production number. The only really important number is the axle ratio and whether it's a limited slip open rear.
