Burning Smell

Most of my driving since buying my truck 6 months ago has consisted of driving to work or short trips towing relatively light loads on flat ground. Over the past few days, I made a couple trips up into the hills. When I climbed out of the truck, I could smell an odor as if something was burning. However, there was no visible sign of the source, and the truck had no signs of any problem (i.e. coolant temp, oil pressure normal, normal power, no CEL).

Is this something to worry about, or is it more likely that some part of the truck is heating up beyond what it typically does given my typical light use(but within reason) and burning off some grime?

My truck is a 93 3/4 ton, 351, E4OD.

Check your oil to see if your losing any. Some might be running out of a valve cover gasket down unto the exhaust creating a definite burning odor.
